Evolve
Cross attribute thresholds to evolve every card—scaling raw baseline skills from crude sketches into awakened weapons.
Every strategy leaves an echo
A turn-based deckbuilding RPG where attributes evolve your cards, bosses adapt to punish your repeated patterns, and growth eventually gives way to memory decline.
The Combat Cycle
Every skill is a card. Every attribute point alters what those cards become. Build a decisive fighting doctrine—then face enemies that learn your habits, and decide what survives when memory begins to fade.
Cross attribute thresholds to evolve every card—scaling raw baseline skills from crude sketches into awakened weapons.
Enemies observe how you fight. When you reach the boss, it actively counters your highest stat—punishing autopilot repetition and forced combos.
Late in the dream, growth gives way to forgetting. Prune your deck as memory erodes, decide what identity to preserve, and carry echoes into future runs.
Card Evolution Engine
Your attributes are not passive background numbers. Crossing milestones transforms your cards from crude sketches into awakened weapons—unlocking new mechanics, conditions, and synergies.
Tier 1: Sketch — Baseline starter capability. Allocate Strength to awaken defensive poise and crushing force.
Stat Compass Dial
tiers availableCombat Doctrine
Allocate tier upgrades across attributes to reveal your fighting identity and evolve your cards.
Specialists reach decisive awakening early. Hybrid builds gain broad utility across multiple schools. Every choice leaves a signature.
The Summit Encounter
The dream never forgets how you won previous encounters. When you reach the Act 1 summit, the Echo Knight does not rely on generic stat scaling. It inspects your highest attribute at encounter commitment and takes the form engineered to dismantle your habits.
Confronts Your Build
“One big swing is never enough.”
The first direct damage packet produced each turn is reduced to zero. Single heavy hits are fully absorbed; multi-hit lines and status damage bypass the plate.
Confronts Your Build
“Still choosing?”
Every non-Special card played after the third queues an Echo Cut (2 damage on next strike). Injects Stolen Beat sabotage cards into your hand to clog card velocity.
Confronts Your Build
“Planning your first move?”
At the start of your turn, injects Assumption (costs 1 energy, must be played first). Rigid turn planning and pre-scripted combos crumble when your opening action is forced.
Confronts Your Build
“Thought this fight was going to take a while, didn’t you?”
All player healing and Block gains resolve at 50% magnitude (rounded up). Passive turtling and infinite armor loops will not save you against the escalating Long Night.
A familiar place, remembered three ways
Landmarks remain while color, structure, and meaning fall away. The deeper the dream travels, the more clearly its hidden shape begins to show.
Act I · The remembered world
The road is warm, the stone is solid, and every danger wears a familiar shape. The dream first presents itself as a place that can be understood.
Act II · The fading world
Color drains. Details disappear. Familiar places remain recognizable even as the dream begins revising what they mean.
Act III · The revealed world
The illusion can no longer maintain itself. Reality gives way to structure, absence, and the traces of something the player has encountered before.
The inhabitants change with it
Enemies do not simply become stronger. Their visual identity moves closer to the idea they have represented from the beginning.

Defense hardens until protection and imprisonment begin to resemble one another.

Patience takes root, wrapping the body in the long consequence of waiting.

The practiced rite stops being something held and becomes something lived.
Between battles
Combat tests your strategy. Encounters create breathing spaces—brief moments to observe the world, act on instinct, and decide what uncertainty is worth.
Meet travelers, find places with histories, and notice what the world leaves unexplained.
Engage with a short environmental challenge that belongs naturally to the journey.
Answer without a morality meter telling you which version of yourself is correct.
Read the signs, accept uncertainty, or decide that restraint is its own kind of courage.
