Development field note · Player identity

Taking Shape.

Three paths for the hero of Divergent Echoes.

In this turn-based RPG with card-based skills, growth reaches beyond the cards. As a build develops, the hero’s stance, clothing, equipment, and use of space begin to reveal the kind of survivor the player is creating.

01

Origin

A shared identity before specialization.
02

Commit

The chosen direction becomes readable.
03

Transform

Construction begins to own the silhouette.
04

Master

The complete build reads at a glance.
Origin · Before the build declares itself
Front-facing view of the unspecialized Divergent Echoes hero

One person · Several possible futures

Identity comes first.

The starting figure is intentionally quiet: practical clothing, an open silhouette, and no declared role. That restraint leaves room for later choices to feel authored by the build instead of inherited from a fixed class.

“The same person should remain visible even when the build can be read at a glance.”

Three directions · One continuous identity

A build should change the silhouette—not replace the person.

Every path protects the hero’s face, proportions, grounded posture, and practical beginnings. What changes is the logic around them—where protection gathers, where cloth opens, what the hands carry, and how colour traces the action the build values most.

01

STR · Force made reliable

Strength

Commitment becomes a complete system of protection, leverage, and follow-through.

CommitThe committed Strength form with one protected shoulder, reinforced glove, and a compact hammer

Structure enters the stance

One protected side and a compact tool begin turning resolve into repeatable action.
TransformThe transformed Strength form with integrated torso, arm, and leg protection around a larger hammer

The load connects

Shoulder, torso, working hand, and grounded leg start reading as one supported line.
MasterThe mastered Strength form in complete weathered armor with red-rust articulation and a warhammer

Force becomes sustainable

A complete personal harness makes decisive impact feel controlled rather than reckless.

What the path values

Commit without waste

Strength favors a clear decision carried through resistance. The figure remains calm; certainty comes from stance and construction, not anger.

What becomes visible

Protection follows purpose

Armor accumulates where it supports the action path. Open and protected areas stay intentional as the silhouette grows heavier.

Why the final form reads

Red-rust marks compression

Warm material appears between dull forged plates, clarifying articulation while preserving the weight of the completed harness.

02

INT · Possibility made deliberate

Intelligence

Preparation turns an ordinary silhouette into a composed map of choices and focus.

CommitThe committed Intelligence form with layered pale cloth and a first blue inner panel

Order appears in layers

A small blue route and offset cloth planes begin separating deliberate choice from ornament.
TransformThe transformed Intelligence form with asymmetrical sleeves, layered cloth, and a blue orb focus

A focus finds its home

The orb enters a low, controlled position while the garment organizes movement around it.
MasterThe mastered Intelligence form with sweeping registered cloth, a connected blue route, and a celestial orb focus

The whole figure becomes a plan

Broad cloth planes and one connected blue path create authority without spectacle.

What the path values

Keep options in reserve

Intelligence communicates readiness through calm availability. One hand holds a practiced focus while the other remains free for the next decision.

What becomes visible

Cloth behaves like a diagram

Overlapping planes, unequal sleeves, and open hand access make the figure feel arranged rather than simply decorated.

Why the final form reads

Blue connects the route

A restrained blue field links sleeve, torso, hip, and focus. The colour reveals order while the practical lower half keeps the hero grounded.

03

AGI · Motion without waste

Agility

The body, clothing, and blade make a chosen sequence—and its return—easy to read.

CommitThe committed Agility form in reorganized light clothing holding a compact blade

A route enters the hand

A compact blade and open hip establish where action begins and where it settles again.
TransformThe transformed Agility form with exposed arms, forest-green underlayers, and a grounded sword

The silhouette clears

Shorter sleeves and connected green panels keep limbs, ground contacts, and recovery visible.
MasterThe mastered Agility form with a tailored sleeveless coat, connected green action panels, and one sword

Every line returns home

The completed tailoring makes speed feel economical, chosen, and entirely under control.

What the path values

Move in a sequence

Agility is not constant motion. It is knowing what moves first, what follows, and exactly where the body returns.

What becomes visible

Negative space stays active

Exposed arms, a readable leg gap, and an uncluttered hip let the eye trace action without relying on blur or effects.

Why the final form reads

Green follows the body

Forest-green material connects back, hip, and lower leg. It reinforces the movement path while remaining part of the garment.

Same face · Different answer

The build becomes visible.

Strength surrounds decisive force with protection. Intelligence arranges cloth and focus into deliberate order. Agility clears a precise route for movement. None of them replaces the hero; each makes a different history of choices legible.
